The halls of the Children’s Museum are located on the first floor of the Grand Palace. Here the history of Tsaritsyno palace construction is told via games and entertaining quizzes. What Tsaritsyno looked like a thousand years ago? Who is Cantemir, and why was the estate that Peter the Great presented to him was called Chernaya Gryaz (Black Mud)? Who built the Grand Palace? When did a landscape park and a holiday village appear in Tsaritsyno? Answers can be found at the Children’s Museum in Tsaritsyno.
All the items are located at a low height so that a kid can comfortably see, touch and play with it. It is allowed to touch all the objects, except for the museum items from Tsaritsyno funds, located in special niches. “You shouldn’t say “Don’t touch anything” to a kid, when in children’s museum,” explains Elizaveta Fokina, Tsaritsyno Museum Director. “This is a space for free learning! A child should be really interested, and should not only see the exhibit, but also feel, touch, hear. A kid should have an opportunity to get involved in a story, in a literal sense of the word.”
