You can see the sculptures of Ostankino Palace at Tsaritsyno Museum, in the halls of the Opera House. The exhibition is an attempt to show two dream projects that couldn’t be implemented in the 18th century.
This idea lies at the heart of Bazhenov’s “ideal” architecture, as well as Count Sheremetev’s project. At about the same time he wanted to turn his estate into a “Pantheon of Arts” with a collection of sculptures. While the Ostankino Palace is currently being restored, its collection of masterpieces is exhibited at Tsaritsyno Opera House.
Among the 126 art objects displayed at Tsaritsyno there are several genuine ancient masterpieces (Hygieia, Goat, Head of Aphrodite), copies of ancient sculptures, made in the 18th century by French and Italian sculptors (Falconet, Pigalle, Houdon, Boisseau), and works by masters of the 19th century, which were brought to Ostankino already after Sheremetev’s death. Most of this collection never left Ostankino Palace before.
