Jan. 28, 2020

‘Studio Pottery of the 20th and the Early 21st Centuries. Book 1. A to L. Vol. II’ released, with 487 works by 126 Soviet studio pottery artists from the Tsaritsyno collection of applied arts.

The collection of studio pottery of the 20th and the early 21st centuries of the Tsaritsyno Museum is the most complete of the kind in the post-Soviet states. It fully reflects the history of studio pottery in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, with works by studio potter from all Soviet states. The collection presents both the leading pottery schools — the Baltic, the Moscow and the Leningrad (later St. Petersburg) — and the trends that developed in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia. The other states are represented by one or two authors. Over the 35 years of the Museum’s history, its employees have built a comprehensive collection representing the author’s weaving of the second half of the 20th and the early 21st centuries in the territory of the former USSR and reflecting all main schools and various trends in tapestry art. Among them are the works of such recognized masters as A. G. Bdeyan, O. V. Bezpalkiv, A. M. Belashov, N. N. Bogdanova, S. A. Vorobyov, N. S. Gavrilov, E. M. Ginstling, V. N. Gorislavtsev, D. V. Gorlov, E. M. Gurevich, A. E. Zadorin and many others.

This publication continued the multivolume collection of the general catalogue of the Tsaritsyno National Reserve-Museum dedicated to museum collections of works of the original applied arts. Volume I ‘Original Weaving of the 20th–21st Centuries. Tapestries, Mini-Tapestries, Tapiseria’ was released in early 2019.
