Milovida Pavilion

Milovida Pavilion is one of the finest Tsaritsyno Park buildings of the beginning of the 19th century. It was built in 1803-1804 presumably by architect Ivan Yegotov, Vasily Bazhenov’s student. The pavilion is located in the most picturesque part of Tsaritsyno park. In the 1800s, it provided a magnificent view of Upper Tsaritsyno Pond with an artificial island, hence this pastoral name.

The pavilion is a walk-through arched gallery with four small corner rooms (“cabinets”) for visitors to relax in. At the beginning of the 19th century, Tsaritsyno became a popular place for walks and picnics. So some of its buildings, including the pavilions, were converted into coffee shops and clubs.

After a large-scale reconstruction of 2000-2007, Milovida Pavilion once again looks like it did at the beginning of the 19th century.
